What's in the Garden?

Not nearly as much as there once was! Although I dearly love gardening and beautiful gardens I don't get around to it like I once did! But I do have a couple of things to show you! Some of my lilies are blooming. I think that the dark color of these against the silvery foilage of my lamb's ear is striking.

I love the enormous blooms of these pink peonies. And the fragrance is wonderful! But these little dickens do attract ants! I once had several kinds of peonies in pink and red. Reminder....don't let hubby weed the garden, especially before these break ground in the spring. I think he is unknowingly throwing away the tuberous roots when he cleans the garden in early spring! I really should get a marker or next spring I may not have any peonies at all. And of course when I say "honey, what happened to my peonies?" I know that I will hear "what peonies? I haven't done anything to anything." Yeah,.....right. And I think that the same thing happened to a good bit of my beautiful hosta that I had planted in that has somehow disappeared too. Some that I have had for at least 16 years. He hasn't done any thing with those either... yeah......sure!

This is Spiderwort or Tradescantia and is also known as "cow slobber" in some areas. Yes... cow slobber, most likely because of it's goey sap. My father gathered some Spiderwort from his brother's yard many years ago and he brought a few small pieces back to me. It's very easy to propogate thru stem cuttings or seeds.

Lamb's Ear. I love it's texture and for brightening the garden. I can remember when I was a child my aunt had some lamb's ear growing in her garden. She explained to me how the plants leaves feel like the soft velvety texture of a lamb's ear and allowed me to touch it. When I started gardening I believe I bought a one gallon container. It is also super easy to propogate. When the flower stalks die I just allow them to remain for a while and wait for the seeds to dry. The seeds are very tiny. I just shake the stalks where I want to grow some more Lamb's Ear and the tiny seeds fall to the ground and next spring I will have more Lamb's Ear.

Simply Gorgeous! I love peonies! My neighbor gave me part of her plant a couple Falls ago and now I have a white Peonies plant! Love them! I have lamb's ears too. They give so much contrast in the garden and they are so soft!

Thank you for sharing your flowers. I decided to mark mine from now on also. I lost at leas a half-a-dozen new plants that I had forgotten about! Only I have nobody to blame but myself.

You are right, the crimson with the silver is very striking!
