Remember Donna Parker?

This week's theme for Vintage Love Saturday was voted to be vintage children and young adults.

From the late 50's thru the 60's Marcia Martin, author, wrote seven-volume series of young adult books about a girl named Donna Parker who lives with her family about two hours away from New York City in a town called Summerfield.

Mystery at Arawak was written in 1962. Donna Parker takes a summer job at Camp Arawak and quickly gets involved in the mysteries there.

A Spring to Remember was written in 1962. Donna is enjoying her last year of junior high school but there is an event that will change her whole outlook and Ricky's life forever.

Hi Barbara! I never heard of this series. I was 2 when they came out, but our library should've had copies. Altho, by the time I was in the 3rd grade I had a teacher who had me reading at a 5-6 grade level, but the librarian said I was too young for those books, so she had me reading history books. By the time I got to 8th grade I'd gone thru the World Book Encyclopedia...LOL...

hey SLV - how about Nancy Drew, the Dana Girls, the Hardy Boys, Tom Swift, Biff Brewster, the Happy Hollisters, Bobbsey Twins, and Honey Bunch & Norman? plus Cherry Ames and Judy Bolton ... I must have read a lot of those books 20 times.

I think I'm Linky'd up now ... thanks for the fun -- I'm learning a little every week -- I'll be a good blogger before long.

I missed Donna Parker. I wasn't a mystery reader when I was young, I have to tell you that I love mysteries now. I have several vintage books, your Vintage Love Saturday is great.
