"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:19
Georgia is in a level 4 state of emergency due to it's ongoing drought. Currently 85 of our northern counties are in a state of disaster. All exterior watering in North Georgia is banned. Restaurants are asked to only serve water to customers who ask for water. Extreme rationing will most likely be on the horizon. Many businesses are already affected by our lack of water. Our lakes are drying up and the authorities are saying that we have less than a three months supply of water in our Lake Lanier. Lake Altoona is also over 16 feet below pool. The lakes are dropping many feet a day. And they do not anticipate for us to be able to re-coup this winter or spring as they expect less than normal rainfall for the upcoming months. The hotter than average temperatures also causes natural evaporation of what water supply that we do have. I am again asking that you please remember to pray for God's intervention and for God's blessings on our state to help us avoid running out of water. Not only do we need rain, but please also pray that God gives our authorities the wisdom needed to guide us thru this drought. Our Govenor has asked that Corp. of Engineers to limit the release of our water, but the Corp of Engineers say that they are required by government contract to release according to what is required of them. Our Govenor has asked for President Bush to declare Georgia in a state of natural disaster.
I am posting a link below to our local news channel. This site is continually updated. If you type in the seach engine "Georgia Drought" many videos and articles will pull up. It will give you an idea of just how bad our situation is.

Barbara,
having lived in West Texas all of my life up until four years ago, I know what a drought is and the devastation and damage it can cause. I will be saying prayers for your dear state and counties that need that rain. May the Lord hear our prayers.
Hugs,
Deanna :)
Oh Barbara, our hearts & prayers are with all of you. Our country has sooo many areas in severe drought too, we have been on water restrictions in our state for the last 6 years. Kind of makes you wonder what we have done to our precious world, doesn't it.
Hugs, Coll :-}
Hello Barbara, I found your blog while searching blogs listing Vintage Linens as an interest. I also love them and would be happy to see you visit me at Patra's Place. I am prompted to leave a comment here regarding the drought in Georgia. Isn't it strange how people think "this can only happen to me"? In Australia we are also in the grip of the worst drought in our 200 year recorded history. Like you, we are on water restrictions and with a hot summer coming up, no serious rains are expected now, so it is just going to get worse. I'll be thinking of you over here, as we all work our way through Earth's crisis.

Georgia has been in my prayers, Barbara. My in-laws live there. My son in NC said this weekend that they have a one month supply of water left!
What a terrible situation....we will be praying for this situation! Let it rain!

I shall pray for rain for Georgia. Take Care - Rachael -xo
I'd just heard this report on NPR yesterday and figured it affected some of my blogging friends. I am sorry to hear about it. We have recently recovered from an 8 year drought here in KS and this year was lush and green and beautifully WET. But, boy did we have some dust, cracked earth and heat there for a long time. Hang in there!
What a delight to have you visit my blog, and to "meet" you. Am sure tracking with you, re this drought. You all are pretty close, and I agree . . . the water, and even color, has to be coming your way, too. The before and after photos I've seen of Lake Lanier are chilling, and enough to spur my prayers, along with the horrendous CA. wildfire situation. Glad to hear the today, however small the amount, you all are getting some rain. Praying with you. Cyber Hugs. :-)
I join you and the others in prayer for your brother and the drought.
Your blog is so beautiful! From the gorgeous handpainted roses on the ornaments to the pumpkin patch!
