Country Ride

After the BIG winter snow storm (see below) my husband had a bit of going stir crazy from being home bound for a whole day, so he wanted to get out for a while. Bless his heart, he just can't sit still for any length of time at all. So, we decided to ride north. We went by and picked up his sister and headed off. It was such a beautiful day, lots of blue sky and sunshine! And the air had a crisp bite as it was only around 19 degrees when we left out, but slowly warmed to around 34 degrees. These photos were taken from the inside of my car as we were driving north. Not the best of photos but I wanted you to see that gorgeous blue sky, which yesterday was a dismal grey. (Do not pay attention to the dirty windshield!) Remember we are on water banning due to the drought, but I suppose I could get the Windex out and clean that windshield! Anyway...
We stopped here and there along the way and passed thru Lula, Baldwin, Cornelia and on northward ending in the historic town of Clayton, Georgia. A small little town near Lake Burton, Clayton is a quaint town with quite a few antique stores.

Normally the little antique stores would be filled with customers including this gal, but for some reason most were closed today. So we decided to go to the local drugstore which has a soda fountain. My husband loves their hamburgers and fries and I love their Rueben sandwiches. But that was a dead end too! Closed...... Geesh! What to do but head back home, empty handed and hungry after hours of riding.
I had such high hopes of bringing back some beautiful photos of vintage and antique finds, but unfortunately all that I can tell you about our day was that the ride was nice, the company was awesome, the scenery was beautiful and Kentucky Fried Chicken hits the spot when you are good and hungry.
Wishing you joy & blessings!
