Beautiful Old Home - My Dream Shop!

"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Colossians 4:6

One of my dreams is to own my own shop where I can sell my vintage finds. There is a beautiful old Victorian looking home here in my town that I have always thought was so pretty and I just love it. It is in our historic district. I have admired this house and so many others here. There are several very beautiful & very old homes and this is just one of them. My husband and I have talked about how we would love to own one of these old homes and have it sitting smack dab in the middle of a spread of land in the country. Well… a couple of years ago this particular home came up for sale. I did call about it a couple of times, but never got a return phone call. I know that it is probably a fortune and since it is not sitting on that big hunk of land that we dreamed of, well...I just never pursued it farther. To this day it is still sitting empty. And it just seems such a shame to me for this lovely old home to be empty.

It is on one of the main roads in our area and within a mile or two from our downtown area and practically across the street from our civic center. There is plenty of traffic too! Every time I pass by I gaze and gawk at it and dream of what a beautiful shop this would be! I would love to be able to rent this house and open a shop there where I could sell my vintage finds!

Since it has been sitting empty for a long time I know that there is a good deal of work to be done to it, but doesn't it just make your mouth water with possibilities! Just imagine the front yard filled with cottage flowers and the nice large porch decorated too. Notice the pretty gingerbread trim, the old stained glass windows on the upper windows of the house, & the half moon windows in the center. I haven't seen the inside, but I am sure that it probably has some beautiful old hardwood floors too! I have decorated this house in my mind so many times!

Here is a closer view of the right side of the house. Click to enlarge.

This house is pretty large! I have a lot of vintage things, but I think I would need help filling this space! I wonder how many other vendors I could sublet a space..... And I wonder.... do you think this house could be divided into two seperate businesses?

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all see one of my dreams!

Hmmmmmm...... gotta go dream about this some more!

As always, come back soon and make yourself welcome here!

Oh what a perfect place for a shop! So charming! And maybe an attached tea room too! I have those dreams too - I hope yours comes true for you one day! Are you talking Clermont, Florida? If so, you are my "neighbor"!

There more I look at this house Barbara the more I fall in love with it. It's heavenly! Can you imagine sitting on the porch in the evening, or sitting a porch swing and swinging while drinking a glass of lemonade.

Only this morning my husband said these words to me. 'Make your requests made know to God'. I feel I should say the same thing to you hon. He is the God of the impossible and He puts dreams in our hearts for a reason. ox Ali
