Hopefully it's ok to borrow the picture from their site since I am promoting this great little store and I do frequent it regularly because this is the only place that I can purchase this cheese. Anyway...my mission for stopping in.... BUY CHEESE. But while there I browsed around I ran across something else that I just figured I just had to have! For those who don't know, I am a knitter. I haven't been knitting for a long, long, time. Just began knitting about a year ago. I have been looking for a pattern for some folkstyle fingerless gloves, the kind that has the mitten part that covers the fingers when you are need the warmth, but that will open up so that the tips of your fingers can be free when you want to have them free. I found a book that had some great patterns and had thought about ordering the book, but lookey what I ran across. Some already knitted up! I love the pattern and the colors too! So if you are guessing that I bought them and bought them home with me, well, you are right! They are currently hid in my stash to bring out later.
Here is a picture of them with the top flap pulled over top of the fingerless glove part and now your hands will be all warm and cozy. I just love them! I'm not hard to please. I am a very simple person. These were a great find.... really. I was a happy lady
to find them, all knit up already! They have the hats too. But I am not a hat kind of girl, so I passed on the hats, but if I could have found some youth sizes I would have bought my two sweet grand children hats for sure. They have the cute earflaps to keep their little ears all warm and out of the wind.
Next stop... a roadside pull over to take a picture of this quaint little church. I have always loved this little church and just never had my camera with me when I was up that way. But on this day I did get to take a picture.
The little church sits across from the Nacoochee Indian Mound.
This is a indian burial site that they say was probably there even before the Cherokee Indian inhabited the area. In 1915 there was an excavation and there were seventy five burials unearthed at varying levels, thereby showing that the burials took place over several years. Descendant of the Cherokee indians still care for and tend the property of the mound. The Nacoochee Mound is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
From there I headed toward Helen, Georgia. There is a grist mill just outside on the main road that takes you into Helen. It's called Nora Mills.

This grist mill was established in 1876 and is still operational. They stone grind and produces all kinds of corn and wheat based products like corn meal, flour and bread and biscuit mixes, grits, & pancake & waffle mixes. There is also a gift store there and you can even order online by clicking http://www.noramill.com/. The site shares the history of the grist mill & some great recipes, too, so if you get time, you might just want to check them all out! Oh... and while you are there you can order some of Paula Dean's products, one of them being Paula Dean's Butt Massage!
I loved the old country displays. Jams, jellies and preserves..... What did my eye catch in between the fig preserves and the blackberry jam? What is that????
A closer look..... What in this world......
FROG JAM????? Oh ok, on a closer look the label reveals the Frog Jam's ingredients. Fig, raspberry, orange and grape... sounds much, much better! Whewwwwww!
And I also loved the great displays above their vegetable section.
And here is an old Octagon Soap display.
While I was there I grabbed up a cold Coke. Isn't this the cutest little Coke bottle. Only holds 8 ounces.
I intended to have time to take a walk thru Helen's busy little town and visit some of the little shops along both sides of the road, but time had gotten away from me and I needed to start heading back toward home. But as I was going thru I did manage to get a few shots of the little town from inside my car. Not the best, but they should give you an idea of what a cute little town this is.
Helen, Georgia is beautiful little re-created bavarian town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northeast Georgia mountains. It has over 200 specialty & import shops. It is one of the most visited little towns in the state of Georgia. You will fall in love with the spectacular mountain views and the quaintness of the little town.
Enjoy the view! And if you are ever in Georgia I hope you will visit this little town. And if you are there, you are only a hop, skip and a jump from my little town!

Hi Barbara,
I just love those fingerless gloves! I'm always on the hunt for those in the wintertime, but you just can't find them here in Southern California it seems.
By the way, thank you for all your sweet comments on my blog!

What a fun trip! I could happily live in a storybook place like this. It reminds me of "my" Gatlinburg!
